I’m not giving up my right to own guns

Self-defense is a fundamental human right. I’m not willing to relinquish that right, no matter how many tragedies occur in this crazy world. No many how many wicked or insane persons use guns to do evil, I will assert my right to own and use firearms to do good. And those goods are these: defense of self, family, community, and nation; hunting for food or for pleasure; target shooting for competition or recreation; and instruction in safe firearms handling to the benefit of others.

No matter how many car accidents occur, I’m not giving up my car. No matter how many people misuse the internet, I’m not giving up my internet connection. No matter how many persons misuse phones, tools, houses, apartments, trains, planes, automobiles, and knowledge, I am not responsible for their sins and crimes, and I will not relinquish my right to use good things for good purposes.

I’m not giving up my right to own guns. What about you?

  1. The worse the world gets, the more I need my self defense tools…how could anyone think any other way????

  2. Great post, Thoreau – I’m in full agreement. The only ones that will gain from gun control/disarmament are the bad guys. Guns don’t kill people – people kill people.
