Poll: What will happen in 2014?

Part of prepping is looking ahead to the future with reasonable anticipation of possible problems or disasters we might need to face. Considering which problems are most likely helps us to focus our prepping over a range of possibilities. With that in mind, which problems do you think will are of greatest concern for 2014? You may choose more than one answer.

  1. 2014 is going to be a rough year. The federal government has been bandaiding economic policy for many years now and the way things look, 2014 is the year much of this will come to a head. I expect to see the world possibly beginning to turn away from our precious dollar causing it to drop in value. At the same time, the quantitative easing will begin to show its effects more resulting in high inflation. The Federal Reserve at some point will stop the quantitative easing because they know they can’t do this for long without serious consequences resulting in a major offset for American Stock Markets. In other words, when all the free money is gone, people will sell their stocks fast before their values go down or a crash.

At the same time this is all going on, the China and Japan territory dispute will escalate to some level. Not sure about how far, but this will make a lot of people nervous.

As for wars in the middle east, most of these this year seem to have been civil wars and other instabilities. I am not sure if we can expect an all out war in the Middle East. If something like this happens, it will likely be started by stray shots across the borders.

As for a large natural disaster…this is not unusual. They have been happening as long as we have been recording history.

    Have a great day!

  2. If we’re lucky, all disasters will be ‘natural’. But I don’t think we’re that lucky.

  3. Let’s just hope that whatever 2014 brings, it won’t be that severe. But who knows, so let’s just all be prepared for what might happen.

  4. The banksters at the fed are probably more than a little nervous about holding so many dollars. Many forclosures are ending up in the hands of “investment groups” that are turning them into rentals.

  5. If the Dollar loses value what would replace it? Chinese, Euro, Yen, Bitcoin??? Any thoughts?? Are you moving investments out of stocks now ? What are you moving towards? Be interesting to hear opinions ;-)

    • All the world currencies are interdependent. An economic collapse could affect every nation/ currency. Bitcoin is very volatile, so there’s no security there.

  6. It’s going to be another rough year, without a doubt.

Also, WWIII will probably happen, China vs Japan vs North Korea.
